Bloc Party
Fillmore Auditorium - Jul 30, 2008
review by .emily.

Definitely one of the better shows I've attended. The set list was a good combination of older Silent Alarm songs and newer A Weekend In the City songs (with some b-sides thrown in, of course). All the songs sounded great live and the band seemed to be enjoying themselves, which is always good.

For the first part of the show, the audience was quieter than I expected, but during the planned encore, with some encouragement from the band, we got a bit more energetic. After the encore everyone started to leave, but Bloc Party ran back onstage for a real encore which was spectacular especially as it generated a mosh pit.

Kele stage dived a couple of times, which was fantastic, naturally. Apparently even that didn't satisfy us, however, because we stood and shouted at them until they came out a third time, which Kele told us was unprecedented. They played "Price of Gas" if I remember correctly.

After the show, I waited around for the band but eventually left right before they appeared. However, according to what I've heard, they were really nice and seemed personally interested in the fans who waited for them.
