Since Air members Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin previously played together in a band called Orange, Air naturally fell into place in 1995. Between then and now, Air has released various albums, including their enormously well-acclaimed 1998 album, Moon Safari. Serving as the single artist on the soundtrack of the 2000 film The Virgin Suicides did not hurt their exposure or popularity, either.

The duo from Versailles makes ambient electronica. Their unique electronics come as less of a surprise when you discover the band members' histories. While Jean-Benoît Dunckel studied mathematics, Nicolas Godin has a degree in architecture. Their combined knowledge seems to apply to Air's carefully crafted and constructed sound. The group draws from psychedelic rock, krautrock and jazz. Their style is both dark and dance-y. Their vocals are light and fluffy, which so comfortably attaches itself to their spacey euro/ambient style.
