Named after their favorite coast--The West Coast--Best Coast consists of Bethany Cosentino and Bob Bruno. After spending a few years in New York at Eugene Lang College and missing dearly her home of California, Cosentino returned to Los Angeles, thankful to be back. Short after her arrival home, she formed Best Coast. The history and cause of Best Coast's formation speaks to the band's beachy, surfer, lazy-garage sound. Heavy distortion and lo-fi tactics are just part of Best Coast's incredible talent and ability to make both unique and rocking songs. They have been lumped and categorized with girl bands Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls, but Best Coast really make their own type of music that cannot be so simply categorized. Best Coast truly represents its favorite edge of the U.S. with extraordinary craft.
