Girls is comprised of Christopher Owens (former member of Holy Shit, which also had in it Ariel Pink as a band member), Chet "JR" White, John Anderson, Garett Godard and Matthew Kallman. Girls, which came out of San Francisco in 2007, mixes surfer, Beach Boys influences with more classic rock and roll sounds such as Elvis Costello. Elements of Owen's history with Ariel Pink can be heard in Girls' shoegaze, psychedelic and often very pretty tendencies. Girls do not follow any rules, which only makes their music more intriguing; Girl's music recipes combine unusual but complementary tones, instrument and noises throughout their songs to deliver a truly unique sound. |
