If you're looking for typical catchy indie rock, Melt Banana is probably not for you. This Japanese noise band are the inventors of a series of unconventional songs that are all quite diverse if their sound. Yasuko Onuki, the band's lead vocalist, formed Melt Banana out of her first band, Mizu. After Mizu experienced turbulence and band member changes, Melt Banana was born in 1992. Some of Melt Banana's songs are more akin Japanese punk rock while others are purely experimental noise rock. Lyrics in some songs, instrumentals, only, in others. Melt Banana's fast-paced style sounds a bit like Arab on Radar, except with a female lead vocalist.
