Whether you're watching them perform or simply listening to them through your headphones, Of Montreal certainly puts on a show. Their indie pop sound incorporates various influences, including Vaudeville, electronic and funk. They are known for their lyrical playfulness, in which they tell odd stories and provide unusual accounts of their experiences.

Of Montreal formed in 1996 in Athens, Georgia. Founder Kevin Barnes joined up with Derek Almstead and Bryan Poole (with whom he released the band's debut alumb, Cherry Peel); later he invited James Huggins and Dottie Alexander to join the band. Since 1997, Of Montreal has put out countless albums and about a dozen musicians have been or continue to be members of the group. Amongst these members are a handful of side projects, including Bright Eyes, Yeasayer, MGMT, Born Ruffians...and the list goes on. The point is, Of Montreal has gained mass-appeal and mainstream success with their indie pop sound and collection of mega star-musicians.
