Born and raised San Jose-native, Peanut Butter Wolf is a hip hop DJ that has been making music since 1989, but has loved hip-hop since he was just 9 years old. Chris Manak named his music project Peanut Butter Wolf after his girlfriend's younger brother's greatest fear: the Peanut Butter Wolf Monster. Manak teamed up with hip hop comrade and San Jose-native Charizma around 1990, and the two were signed to Disney's label Hollywood Basic. However, in 1993 Charizma was shot to death in a mugging. Despite the great loss and necessary break following Charizma's death, Manak continued his musical career as a DJ and producer of hip hop, sounding a bit like Roc C. Manak even founded is own record label called Stones Throw in 1996. |
