Apparently, Alan Sparhawk, the amazingly-talented musician and songwriter, and half of slow-core pioneers Low, decided one day that all that he had was not enough. And so he formed Retribution Gospel Choir. RGC is, upon first listen, the opposite of Low. Where with Low, you must at times strain to hear all of the notes being played, RGC is in your face, all the time, from start to finish, whether you like it or not. Low is soft. RGC is hard and loud. And yet, both bands produce an incredibly powerful sound, haunting and captivating. Both are clearly the product of one.
