"The Botticellis began when Zack Ehrlich and Alexi Glickman met playing suzuki violin duets in a Southern California Kindergarten class. Before long the two were writing and performing their own songs. They moved slowly up the California coast--picking up a few good souls along the way (Burton Li, Blythe Foster, and Ian Nansen). The Botticellis now live in a communal home by the ocean in the sleepy outer richmond of San Francisco. Not satisfied merely with nostalgia for the sounds of old records- the Botticellis work the pop canon from the inside out. Theirs is a timeless marriage of old school sound and classic songwriting. The Botticellis evoke a by-gone era of song shaping atuned to the fundamentals of classical music composition. Old Home Movies, the Botticellis first record, features classic 'wall of sound' production, intricate vocal harmonies, the Matt Cunitz museum of vintage pianos and organs (mellotron, orchestron, vox continental, celeste, pump organ, farfisa, etc...) on beautifully crafted, timeless pop songs. Recorded at Tiny Telephone on 2" tape. Mixed at Pan American with Jason Quever (Papercuts) and at the Botticellis' home."
