Erratic, impulsive, fickle and spasmodic are just a few adjectives that describe The Fucking Ocean's style. They make music that is similar to Erase Errata, and have a grim sound that draws from no-wave, post-punk and psychedelic influences. Their vocals are more often yelled than sung, which only adds to their grim and unpredictable sound. The Fucking Ocean's creative name comes from a misheard Lou Reed lyric, which is meant to say, "foggy notion". The Fucking Ocean tries to separate itself from the pack--and does so rather successfully.
