Daytrotter Sessions

Initially called Ryan McPhun & the Ruby Suns, The Ruby Suns formed when California-born Ryan McPhun moved to Aukland, New Zealand in 2003. Their indie pop sound is similar to Le Loup, but quite a bit more melodic and dreamy. The Ruby Suns' tracks are very carefully crafted and combine numerous influences, such as island, New Wave and straight-up pop styles. Before The Ruby Suns, McPhun played with The Brunettes and as a solo artist in New Zealand. However, his work with The Ruby Suns has brought him substantial success, having toured with indie superstars such as The Shins.
