Three Brooklyn girls formed a little indie punk band they named Vivian Girls in 2007. Before they knew it, Vivian Girls' popularity erupted, leaving them to tour with indie superstars, such as Sonic Youth. Vivian Girls deliver lo-fi indie rock that clearly draws from punk and shoegaze. Their style is similar to those of Brilliant Colors and Dum Dum Girls. Within Vivian Girls are Cassie Ramone, Ali Koehler and Kickball Katy, who put out some fast paced punker songs, but also numerous slower, contemplative and highly emotional songs. They sing about everyday girls issues and lives, such as ex-lovers who want to get back together. Vivian Girls have developed an enormous and faithful fan base--big enough to tour the world. |
